Actress Yuki Amami attended a press conference recently held in Tokyo for the drama she stars in, "Emergency Interrogation Room" (TV Asahi, Thursdays at 10pm), which begins on October 16th, and spoke of her deep feelings about the series' conclusion.
"Emergency Interrogation Room" is a popular series that follows the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigative Division's "Emergency Case Response Interrogation Team (commonly known as Kintori)," led by Amami-san as a hard-working interrogator Yukiko Makabe, as they engage in a back-and-forth psychological battle with violent criminals. The series began airing in 2014 and has garnered popularity with four drama series (January 2014, April 2017, April 2019, July 2021) and two special dramas (September 2015, January 2022). The fifth series will begin airing on October 16th, and the series will conclude with the movie "Emergency Interrogation Room THE FINAL," which will be released on December 26th.
The theatrical version was originally scheduled for release in June 2023, but was postponed due to Toho's "comprehensive judgment." Amami said, "The movie was postponed due to various reasons, but it is finally being released. This drama will give us a springboard towards that. I feel grateful to everyone (cast and staff), saying, 'Thank you so much for waiting. And thank you for these past 12 years.'" She added emphatically, "I will do my best (in filming) with gratitude in my heart."
Meanwhile, some Kintori members expressed their sadness at the end of the series. Denden said, "(Recently) I've always been saying, 'It's the finale!' and it's become like a closing-down sale at some shopping mall (laughs). Don't trust that this is the finale, okay? If this series is interesting, who knows, there might be another one next year (laughs). I'd like to do my best this time around, hoping for something like that."Fumiyo Kohinata also smiled and said, "Honestly, it doesn't feel like the finale at all. It feels like it's going to continue for a while longer." Amami also laughed, revealing her longtime love for Kintori.
Also attending the press conference were Tetsushi Tanaka, Tsukaji Takemasa, and first-time guests Koji Yamamoto and Wakamura Mayumi.
