It has been revealed that Shun Numa's manga "Chojun! Chojo Senpai," which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), will be adapted into a TV anime in 2026. Set in the unusually named town of Kakiki, the "psychic police comedy" follows the powerful buddy duo of psychic sergeant Chojo Jun and rookie police officer Ipponki Nao. The series ran in the magazine from February 2024 to June 2025. It was ranked third in the comics category at the Next Manga Awards 2025, and the total number of copies of all eight volumes of the manga has exceeded 300,000.
The anime will be directed by Yamamoto Junichi, with series composition and scriptwriting by Mori Hayashi and character design by Sasaki Masakatsu. It will be produced by Arbo Animation. A teaser visual has been released featuring the protagonist, Chojo Jun, a psychic sergeant working at the Chinjuku Nishi Police Box, and Ipponki Nao, a rookie police officer assigned to the Chinjuku Nishi Police Box.
Original author Numa Shun commented, "I'm excited to hear that 'ChoJun! Chojo Senpai' will be made into an anime, and I can't wait until the day I can meet ChoJun and the others again. This work, which has now finished serialization, has been given this opportunity thanks to the strong support from all of our readers. Right now, I'm just amazed that 'passion really does turn a work into a phoenix,' and I'm keeping warm in the arms of the phoenix that you all created. I hope you will continue to support 'Chojo Senpai' with us as we look ahead to its broadcast next year!"
Director Yamamoto said, "Cho-Jun! Chojo Senpai is a fun work packed with laughter, hobbies, jokes, and human kindness. I hope to convey the small ways in which Cho-Jun and Pon-chan and friends help others in the fun that only anime can have. It was made by adults who had fun and put their playful side into it, so please be sure to check it out!"
