The drama series "Shumaku no Rondo" (Kantele/Fuji TV, Mondays at 10pm) starring Kusanagi Tsuyoshi will begin on October 13th. The cast brings together staff from the "Boku" series, which began with "My Way of Life" (2003), starring Kusanagi, and the "Sen no Senso" series, which began with "Money Wars" (2015). The script is an original by Takahashi Miyuki. Kusanagi plays Torikai Itsuki, a personal effects organizer living as a single father after losing his wife. The first episode will be extended by 15 minutes.
Since his first lead role in a drama series, "Good Person" (1997), Kusanagi has starred in many dramas produced by Kansai TV, including the "Boku" series and the "Senso" series. This will be his ninth lead role in a drama series, and his tenth if one-off roles are included.
This human drama follows Torikai Itsuki, a personal effects organizer who is raising his young son alone, as he and his colleagues at the estate sorting company work with families facing various challenges. It also depicts a moving story of unraveling the final messages of the deceased contained in their belongings, as well as a heartbreaking adult love story.
Nakamura Yuri plays Mikuriya Makoto, a picture book author and wife of the next president of a large corporate group; Akihisa Shiono plays Yahagi Kaito, an estate organizer at the estate sorting company "Heaven's messenger"; Yagi Rikako plays Kume Yuzuha, a new estate organizer; Kuninaka Ryoko plays Moriyama Shizune, Makoto's editor; and Fubuki Jun plays Jun Fubuki Koharu, Makoto's mother.
In the first episode, Torikai Itsuki (Kusanagi), who lost his wife five years ago, is raising his son, who is in the first grade of elementary school, on his own. Isobe Toyoharu (Nakamura Masatoshi), the president of "Heaven's Messenger," is an estate organizer who conveys the thoughts of the deceased, which are left behind in their belongings, to the bereaved families.
One day, Itsuki is tasked with specially cleaning the room where a woman died alone and sorting out her belongings. He takes new employee Kume Yuzuha (Yagi) to the scene where traces of the body remain. The client, the deceased's son (Yoshimura Kaito), who was abandoned at the age of 10, coldly tells him that his mother brought it on herself for her lonely death and asks that all of her belongings be disposed of. In the room, Itsuki finds something that is filled with the deceased's thoughts.
At the same time, picture book author Mikuriya Makoto (Nakamura Yuri) is attending a party celebrating the publication of her first picture book with her husband, Toshihito (Kaname Jun), the heir to the large company Mikuriya Holdings. The two appear to be a loving couple, but Toshihito's busy schedule leaves him neglecting his family, and Makoto's heart is worn down by her loveless marriage.
Itsuki visits the home of Ayukawa Koharu (Kazebuki), who works for a cleaning company, to get an estimate for organizing her affairs before she dies. Koharu, who gave birth to her daughter out of wedlock and married 10 years ago, has recently been told she has only three months to live. After hearing the story, Itsuki immediately goes to look around the room. Just then, her daughter Makoto (Nakamura Yuri), who is unaware of the situation, returns home...
