A special program for the all-new anime "Fist of the North Star -FIST OF THE NORTH STAR-," produced to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the hit 1980s manga "Fist of the North Star," entitled "It's Fist of the North Star Day!! All Four Brothers Gather!! ~Anime New Information Release Special~" was streamed on YouTube on September 13th, "Fist of the North Star Day." The cast for the four Hokuto brothers, Raoh, Toki, and Jagi, was announced. Daisuke Kusunoki will play the eldest brother, Raoh, Tsuguo Mogami will play the second brother, Toki, and Wataru Takagi will play the third brother, Jagi. It has been announced that Shunsuke Takeuchi will play the youngest brother and protagonist, Kenshiro, in the new anime.
A character introduction trailer was also released, in which the four Hokuto brothers' famous lines can be heard. It was also announced that an official spin-off short anime, "Fist of the North Star: Requiem for the Fist King Army's Weapons," depicting the familiar "weapons" from the series, will be broadcast in January 2026.
Kusunoki commented, "Fist of the North Star is a national work, and a part of my youth. When it was broadcast, I was still a student, and the day after it aired, everyone would be talking about Fist of the North Star. Even after I became a voice actor, my feelings for this work have not faded. It is a textbook-like work, and the original voice actors are voice actors I greatly respect, so even auditioning for it was an immense amount of pressure. I have overcome those difficulties, and I will now take on the challenge with even greater pressure on my shoulders. At the same time, I feel a far greater joy and a great honor to be able to act and be involved in the work; all of these feelings well up in my heart as burning emotions. I will participate with the utmost love until the very end."
Mogami said, "When I was chosen to play Toki, the first thing I did was to report it to the late Kenji Utsumi, the chairman of our Ken Productions. I felt like I could hear the chairman saying in that voice, 'Oh, Mogami is playing Toki. Do your best.' I feel like I have been entrusted with something very important, both in terms of the production and Ken Productions. I would like to enjoy this weight."
Takagi commented, "I am honored to be able to play Jagi in the legendary anime 'Fist of the North Star,' which is being revived after 40 years. I hope that everyone will enjoy the newly born world of 'Fist of the North Star,' while inheriting the overflowing strength and human drama that I felt back then. We have also done pre-recording, so I am very much looking forward to seeing what the finished product will be like."
"Fist of the North Star" is a manga written by Buronson and illustrated by Tetsuo Hara, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1983 to 1988. Set in a post-nuclear war world ruled by violence in the year 199X, the story follows Kenshiro, the successor to the legendary Hokuto Shinken assassination fist, as he grows up and fights against powerful opponents, including his brother Raoh.
It was adapted into a TV anime in 1984, recording a peak audience rating of 23.4%. It became a social hit with famous lines such as "You're already dead." An anime movie and an original video animation (OVA) were also produced. It was also made into a musical, which became a hot topic. The comic has sold over 100 million copies. The new anime will be broadcast and streamed in 2026. It has been announced that Shunsuke Takeuchi will play Kenshiro, Daiki Yamashita will play Bat, and M.A.O will play Lin.
