TV Tokyo announcer Yo Saito has been attracting attention after being selected as the fifth assistant for the popular variety show "Moyamoya Summers 2 (Moyamoya Summers)" (Saturday 11:30 AM), which features the comedy duo "Summers." Since joining the show in July, despite having no experience in variety shows, he has shown his unashamed willingness to take on a variety of challenges. "First of all, I'll try anything!" says Saito, and what is his true face like?
Saito joined TV Tokyo in April of this year. He grew up in Yamagata Prefecture until junior high school, and studied abroad in Oregon, USA, during high school. He also became a backpacker during his university days and traveled around Europe for a month.
"I think I'm pretty quick on my feet."
On the show, announcer Saito shows off his adventurous spirit.
"I tried skydiving on New Year's Day, and last year I went on a waterfall ascetic practice by myself... Studying abroad in the United States during high school was also a big challenge."
You were a member of the track and field club in high school, so are you confident in your physical strength?
"When I was studying abroad in high school, I did cross-country skiing, running five kilometers along mountain trails. From kindergarten through high school, I don't remember ever having to take a day off due to illness."
It has already been revealed on the show that she is a big "frog lover." The reason she likes frogs is because "the violin teacher I went to in elementary school had a lot of frog goods on display at her house, and I felt soothed every time I went to her lesson."
"Like people who love dogs and cats, I love frogs. I love both frog merchandise and real frogs. I have so many stuffed frogs at home that I'm starting to think it's time to stop buying them..."
In addition, in her daily life, she values "writing a diary and eating breakfast."
"I've been keeping a diary since I was in the first grade of elementary school. Doing so helps me discover the little joys of everyday life. I also enjoy looking back on the past, and I like the fact that writing things down helps me organize my feelings. I find it very amusing to reread my diary from elementary school. There are heartwarming stories, like, 'I found a four-leaf clover today.' Since I started working, I've bought a five-year diary and write in it every day."
Regarding breakfast, Saito says, "I feel it's very important. It's the source of energy for the day, so no matter how busy I am, I always eat it; it's a routine that switches on my mind and body."
Finally, we asked her about her future plans as an announcer.
"I want to take responsibility for every word I use. When I was studying abroad, I often saw my local classmates discussing the presidential election and social issues in their everyday conversations. This sparked in me the desire to aim for a world where everyone can think about the future of society. From there, I decided to pursue a career in the media. As an announcer for TV Tokyo, I will work hard with the hope of being involved in news programs in the future."
