Goro Ibuki's "Tetsuko's Room" August 29th broadcast episode: What his grandson, a professional boxer, asked him before his first match

Actor Goro Ibuki appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which aired on August 29th. He spoke about his feelings towards his grandson, a professional boxer.

Ibuki said he had no idea his grandson was boxing. At his first match, he said, "I have a request." He wanted the theme song from the popular anime "Mito Komon" to be played when he entered the ring.

Ibuki played the role of Katsu-san in the TV drama "Mito Komon" for 17 years, so he contacted the production company and received permission. The trainer also wanted to enter the ring holding up his inro (seal), so he gave him his inro. "Thanks to that, he won," he recalls.

He had gone to watch boxing matches of people he knew, but he complained, "The mental level is completely different when watching a match between a family member and a stranger. If it's a family member, if there's even a little bit of blood, I want to tell them to stop right now, even if it means losing."
