Singer and actor Masaharu Fukuyama appeared at the stage greeting for the completion ceremony of his starring film "Black Showman" (directed by Ryo Tanaka, scheduled for release on September 12th) held at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi (Minato Ward, Tokyo) on August 26th. Co-star Erika Ikuta also appeared at the event. Fukuyama and Ikuta previously co-starred in the animated film "Wish," which will be released in 2023, and it was said that they had longed for the opportunity to co-star as actors in this film, with Ikuta expressing her joy by saying, "My wish has come true."
Fukuyama praised Ikuta, saying, "He can do anything. He can act, he can play music. He also writes songs. (On set) he bombarded me with questions." Ikuta also asked Fukuyama about music production, and seemed surprised, saying, "He said, 'It's playing in my head,' like a modern-day Beethoven."
Appearing at the event were Kasumi Arimura, Ryo Narita, Subaru Kimura, Hiroki Akiyama of the comedy trio "Hanako", Atsuhiro Inukai, Sae Okazaki, Atsushi Ito, Katsuhisa Namase, Toru Nakamura, and director Tanaka.
The film is based on a novel by Higashino Keigo. Former junior high school teacher Kamio Eiichi is murdered by an unknown assailant. His daughter, Kamio Mayo (Arimura), who was due to be married in two months, receives the sudden news of his death and returns to her hometown. Hoping to find out the truth about why Eiichi was killed, Mayo is approached by her uncle, Kamio Takeshi (Fukuyama). Armed with his exceptional magic tricks, his wicked sleight of hand, and his mentalist-level skill at observing people and leading questions, Mayo takes on the mystery of the murder... this is the story.
