Weekend movie attendance rankings announced

According to the movie attendance rankings for the period from August 22nd to 24th (surveyed by Kogyo Tsushinsha) released on August 25th, the new film adaptation of the popular anime " Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Yaiba" manga by Koyoharu Gotouge , " Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Castle Arc Chapter 1: Akaza Returns" (directed by Haruo Tonozaki), topped the list for the sixth consecutive week. Over the three-day weekend, it attracted approximately 764,000 viewers and grossed approximately 1.154 billion yen. Cumulatively, it has attracted 19.82 million viewers and grossed over 28 billion yen. In the all-time box office ranking, it surpassed "Titanic" (released in 1997, box office revenue of approximately 27.77 billion yen) and came in third place after "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie : Mugen Train" (released in 2020, box office revenue of approximately 40.75 billion yen) and "Spirited Away" (released in 2001, box office revenue of approximately 31.68 billion yen).

Among the first-time entries, "Ballerina: The World of John Wick" (directed by Len Wiseman), a spin-off of the "John Wick" series starring Keanu Reeves and starring Ana de Armas as an assassin, came in sixth place; "Stella Next to Me" (directed by Matsumoto Kana), a film adaptation of Anmitsu's manga currently serialized in "Bessatsu Friend" (Kodansha), starring Riko Fukumoto and Yusei Yagi, came in ninth; and "Baby Shark and His Friends" (directed by Kumano Chihiro), an animated feature film based on Penguin Box's manga, came in tenth.

"National Treasure" (directed by Lee Sang-il) rose one place from third place last week to second place. Over the three-day weekend, it attracted approximately 347,000 viewers and grossed approximately 511 million yen. Cumulative totals have reached 8.17 million viewers and over 11.5 billion yen. Among all-time box office rankings for live-action Japanese films, it now ranks second, behind "Bayside Shakedown 2: Close the Rainbow Bridge!" (released in 2003, grossed approximately 17.35 billion yen).

In third place was "Jurassic World: Resurrection" (directed by Gareth Edwards), which attracted approximately 236,000 people over the three-day weekend and grossed approximately 379 million yen. Cumulative totals reached 2.48 million people and grossed over 3.8 billion yen. The fourth and fifth places remained unchanged from the previous week, with the theatrical release "TOKYO MER: The Mobile Emergency Room - Nankai Mission" (directed by Aya Matsuki) and "Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers" (directed by Masakazu Hashimoto). "TOKYO MER: The Mobile Emergency Room - Nankai Mission" has attracted a total of 2.9 million people and grossed over 3.9 billion yen.
