It has been announced that the IMAX version of the animated film " Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc," a sequel to the TV anime "Chainsaw Man Man" based on Tatsuki Fujimoto 's popular manga, will be released simultaneously with the regular version on September 19th. The IMAX version will be released in 61 theaters nationwide. The poster visual for the IMAX version, featuring Chainsaw Man and the shark demon Beam, has been released.
To commemorate the release of the film, it has also been announced that a special program, "Just before the release! The charm of the film ' Chainsaw Man Reze Arc' explodes! A flashy special program!" will be streamed on ABEMA from 8pm on September 5th. It will feature an infiltration into MAPPA, the production company for the anime, to reveal behind the scenes of the production. A video commentary from Kenshi Yonezu Yonezu, who is in charge of the theme song and ending theme, will be released, as well as the latest information on the film. Comedian Kendo Kobayashi will serve as MC, and studio guests will include Kikunosuke Toya, who voices Denji in the anime, Noda Crystal from comedy duo Magical Lovely, Shogo from Tokyo Hoteison, Murakawa Hian from idol group CANDY TUNE, and freelance announcer Matsuzawa Neki.
After the special program ends at 9pm, ABEMA will exclusively stream the Chainsaw Man Omnibus, a compilation of all 12 episodes of the TV series, for free. In addition to the main story, which has been newly re-edited for this stream, the series will also stream Chainsaw Biyori, a new anime adaptation of the final episode of the original comic. The Chainsaw Man Omnibus will be available on various platforms from September 12th.
To commemorate the release of the film, a pop-up shop titled "Chainsaw Summer! The Best!! in SHIBUYA" will open in nine stores in Shibuya, Tokyo from September 12th. In collaboration with ZONe ENERGY's sampling unit, ZONe BOOSTER, Chainsaw Man headpieces will be distributed, as well as limited quantities of Pochita-designed candy.
The "Reze" arc will tell the story of Reze and the protagonist Denji, who also appeared at the end of the TV anime that aired from October to December 2022, and became a hot topic. While Denji is excited about a date with his crush Makima, he takes shelter from the rain and meets Reze, a young girl who works at a cafe. The story is directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, who served as the action director for the TV anime, and produced by MAPPA. Yonezu will be performing the theme song "IRIS OUT," and Yonezu and Hikaru Utada will be performing the ending theme "JANE DOE," which has also been much talked about.
"Chainsaw Man" is a dark hero action story about a boy named Denji who is possessed by a demon and works as a devil hunter. Part 1 was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from December 2018 to December 2020. Part 2 has been serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+" since July 2022.
