A new commercial for Koikeya's snack "Pure Potato" starring actor Ryusei Yokohama, titled "Pure Potato: 100% Domestic Potatoes You Can't Stop Eating" began airing nationwide on August 19th.
In the commercial, Yokohama plays a salaryman who catches eye with a girl and is inspired by the sound and appetizing aroma of her eating pure potatoes, and sprints through the city in search of pure potatoes.
The shoot took place on a cloudless midsummer day. Under the scorching sun, Yokohama, clad in a suit, repeatedly sprinted over 100 times. After finishing the shoot, Yokohama reflected, "This was the most physically difficult shoot of the year."
"Pure Potato" has recently been revamped, and while it retains its characteristics of being made from 100% domestic potatoes and being thickly cut, it now has a fragrant flavor similar to that of thick French fries. Yokohama said, "You can still feel the texture of the potatoes, but the flavor is even stronger than before. You can really taste the fragrant flavor like French fries. The packaging has also been revamped, with a more eye-catching design...I would be happy if you would pick one up when you go to the store."
The revamped Pure Potato has been available for pre-sale at convenience stores nationwide since the 18th, and will be available in supermarkets and other stores nationwide from the 25th.
