Additional cast members have been announced for the TV anime "Yano-kun no Futsu no Hibi," based on the romantic comedy manga by Tamura Yui, which has also been adapted into a live-action film. It has been revealed that Atsumi Tanezaki will play Mei, Taito Ban Saka as Hashiba, Rie Takahashi as Izumi, and Ryota Iwasaki as Tanaka. It has also been announced that the dance and vocal group "FANTASTICS from EXILE TRIBE" will perform the opening theme "POP LIFE." The live-action film version of the same work stars Yusei Yagi, a member of the same group.
Tanezaki, who plays Yoshida Kiyoko's best friend Mei, commented, "Putting aside the sharp things that happen to Yano...I think this is a very rounded and gentle work with a unique atmosphere that can only be found in this work. Personally, every dubbing session is a heartwarming fest. Yano's best friend Kiyoko, who worries about the clumsy Yano, is just as hard to take your eyes off of as Yano himself. Before you know it, you're 'naturally watching over him.' I can't wait for everyone to experience this feeling...!"
Saka, who plays Hashiba, the same class representative as Kiyoko, said, "Hashiba, who I will be playing this time, is a clumsy but very caring and kind-hearted sportsman. After he develops certain feelings for Yoshida, he becomes involved with Yano and the others. The atmosphere of this work, such as the choice of words and the expressions of the characters, is very delicate, warm and "kind." I'm sure that once you watch the anime, you'll want to watch over Yano just like Yoshida. I hope you enjoy this heartwarming, bittersweet youth love story!"
Takahashi, who plays Hashiba's childhood friend Izumi, said, "I'm so happy to be able to take part in Yano and the others' worldview! It's a work that will make you smile, and when you feel a bit sad, it will make you feel warm and fuzzy. Before you know it, you'll feel like you're one of the characters. I want to take Izumi's mind and interact with her in a bright and fun way! Let's have a youthful time!"
Iwasaki, who plays Tanaka, Mei's childhood friend, commented, "Tanaka is quick on his feet, very energetic and a bit of a silly character, but that's what makes him soothing and he's like the sun, brightening up the atmosphere, so I love this character! I will do my best to play Tanaka, who is loved by everyone, with energy and care, so please look forward to it!"
Nakajima Sota of FANTASTICS sent a message saying, "Following the theme song for the movie, I am really happy to be able to sing the opening theme song for the anime "Yano-kun no Futsu no Hibi." I sang this song with all my heart, hoping to make you feel worried, chuckle, feel excited, and gain courage, and to make you feel a fun and pop way of life in all kinds of scenes! I think the words "POP LIFE" are wonderful. I sincerely hope that this song will have the power to blow away all kinds of small doubts and confusion. Please pay attention to the opening theme song "POP LIFE" along with Yano-kun's clumsiness and cuteness in the anime!"
The first promotional video, featuring the opening theme song "POP LIFE," has been released, along with a key visual that expresses the "ordinary yet important days" of the six main characters.
The series is currently being serialized on Kodansha's online manga service, Comic DAYS. It depicts the pure love story between the extremely unlucky Yano Go, who comes to school covered in injuries every day, and the class representative Yoshida Kiyoko, who is extremely worried about Yano.
The anime will be directed by Shinpei Matsuo and produced by Asiado. Kohei Amasaki will play Tsuyoshi Yano and Yuka Nukui will play Kiyoko Yoshida. It will be broadcast on Nippon TV and other channels from October.
