It has been announced that the second part of the "Now is the Time to Talk about Patlabor" event, in preparation for the release of the new anime "Mobile Police Patlabor Mobile Police Patlabor Patlabor" anime, will be held on August 3rd at United Cinema Aquacity Odaiba (Minato Ward, Tokyo).
The animated film "WXIII Mobile Police Patlabor" will be screened, and a talk event will be held with the original creators "HEADGEAR" Yutaka Izubuchi, Masami Yuki, and screenwriter Torimiki. One of the "Mini Patrol" films will be screened, and the details of what will be screened will be revealed on the day.
"Mobile Police Patlabor" is set in the near future where walking work machines called Labors have been put to practical use, and depicts the activities of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Special Vehicle Section 2 Company (Special Vehicle Section 2) as they fight against Labor crimes, as well as the daily lives of Izumi Noa and other members of the force. Masami Yuki's manga was serialized in the manga magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday (Shogakukan) from 1988 to 1994. A TV anime series was broadcast from 1989 to 1990, and the animated film version directed by Mamoru Oshii also gained popularity. A live-action version was also made, which became a hot topic.
It has been announced that the new anime "Mobile Police Patlabor EZY" project will start in 2026. Izubuchi will be the director, and Kazunori Ito will be in charge of the series composition and script. JCSTAFF will produce the anime.
