The exhibition "Fear" themed on "fear" will open in Shibuya, Tokyo on July 18th. The exhibition once again brings together horror author Nashi, Yami Co., Ltd., and TV Tokyo producer Omori Tokio, who worked on the exhibition "Missing" which has been held in Tokyo and Nagoya since last summer and attracted around 100,000 people. We report on the advance experience session for related parties held on the 16th at the venue, BEAM Gallery (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo).

The exhibition brings together various fears that each human being has, and is organized into a spatial display. It is divided into four zones: "Fear of existence," "Fear of society," "Fear of space," and "Fear of concepts," and visitors are invited to relive these fears in order.

For example, in the exhibit about the fear of "sharp edges" located just after entering the museum, sharp objects such as pencils, scissors, and knives are displayed to the viewer. Even though they are in a case, they evoke a creepy feeling. The exhibition also conveys the fears that relatively many people have, such as "a large number of dolls," "injections," and "close spaces," through videos, photographs, and actual objects.

In the "Hair" and "Telephone" exhibits, as you look at photos of large amounts of hair and an actual telephone that was once placed in a design company and read the stories written in the exhibit explanations, you begin to feel a sense of fear gradually awakening. Just as you are about to move on to the next exhibit, the telephone suddenly starts ringing, startling you. Other exhibits include a notebook that records the details of one's daily life out of fear of "forgetfulness," and a large number of empty bottles of medicines and supplements that a young man purchased out of fear of "aging."

Some things are hard to convey, such as fear of "happiness" and "nostalgia," but it makes you realize that what scares you varies from person to person. The reason I didn't feel any fear may simply be because I didn't have any triggers. This exhibition makes you want to talk to other people about the theme of "fear."

The "Heart of Fear" exhibition will be held from July 18 to August 31 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm each day (last admission 30 minutes before closing). Tickets cost 2,300 yen.

In conjunction with the "Fearful Heart Exhibition," TV Tokyo will be broadcasting "Magical Girl Yamada," the third installment of producer Omori's fake documentary series "TXQ FICTION," from midnight on July 14, 21, and 28. In addition to the already aired episodes of "Magical Girl Yamada," TVer is also streaming the first installment of "TXQ FICTION," "Looking for Isinagakikue," and the second installment, "Apologies to the Iinuma Family," for free for a limited period of about two months.
