Actor Elaiza Ikeda and rock band RADWIMPS member Yojiro Noda star in the NHK drama series "The Great Passage ~ Watashi, Jisho Tsukurimasu ~" (General TV, Tuesdays at 10pm). According to the synopsis of the sixth episode, which will air on July 22nd, a violent storm hits the dictionary editorial department. Scene cuts have also been released.
The drama is based on Shion Miura's bestselling novel, and depicts the passion of people working on dictionaries from the perspective of Midori Kishibe (played by Ikeda), a young editorial staff member who has been transferred to the dictionary editorial department. Noda plays the protagonist of the novel, Mitsuya Majime, the head of the dictionary editorial department who is an extremely earnest person. The drama has been broadcast on terrestrial TV since June 17th in the "Drama 10" slot.
In episode 6, Midori (Ikeda) becomes absorbed in creating the dictionary, but a violent storm hits the dictionary editorial department.
Igarashi (Shinichi Tsutsumi), the new president of Genbu Publishing, has announced that he will discontinue the paper publication of "Odo Kai" and will make it digital only. This comes as a shock to the editorial staff, including Majime (Noda Yojiro). Among them, Araki (Iwamatsu Ryo), who has been working closely with Matsumoto-sensei (Shibata Kyohei) for many years to publish Odo Kai, is especially saddened.
Midori, trying to somehow protect the paper dictionary, comes up with an idea... and the story unfolds.
