It has been revealed that singer-songwriter Tatsuki Fujimoto will be performing the theme song "IRIS OUT" for the movie version of "Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc" (released on September 19th), a sequel to the TV anime "Chainsaw Man " based on the popular manga by Kenshi Yonezu currently being serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump +". Yonezu performed the opening theme "KICK BACK" for the TV anime that aired from October to December 2022, and will be performing the theme song for the movie version. A trailer has been released, showcasing the song.
The announcement was made during a MAPPA panel stage at Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles. Yonezu commented, "I am honored to be in charge of the music for the movie version following the TV anime version. I created the music while keeping the page with Reze in the original work open all day and glaring at it. I look forward to working with you all."
The trailer features characters such as Denji, Makima, Reze, and the Angel Demon, and also includes a scene where Chainsaw Man confronts the bomb demon Bomb.
Additional cast members have also been announced, including Takahashi Hidenori as the vice captain of the Public Safety Demon-Prevention Special Division 2, Akabane Kenji as Nomo, also from Division 2, Kenji Nomura as the mysterious man who is after the "Chainsaw Heart," and Kitamura Eri as the Typhoon Devil.
Takahashi, who plays the vice captain, commented, "This was my first time participating, but I was overwhelmed by the world of Chainsaw Man. Each character is so rich. I was cast as the vice captain, and I hope that I can become a character that will be memorable for everyone who watches. There are also lots of action scenes, so please look forward to the powerful dialogue!"
Akabane, who plays Nomo, said, "I'm a reader of Chainsaw Man, so I recognized Nomo... Nomo... Ah! It's that guy...! But I never imagined I would be playing the role (laughs). The footage was moving smoothly even at the dubbing stage, and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished version. Nomo is a character who has a sense of being a good senior, so I hope you will see it on the big screen. Thank you very much. Kon!"
Nomura, who plays the mysterious male role, said, "When I came into contact with Chainsaw Man for the first time, I felt that it was full of action, just as I expected, and that the characters' emotional expressions were wonderful. I had a lot of fun recording with everyone who joined me! There's no doubt that this will turn out to be an interesting piece of work! Everyone, I hope you'll watch it on the big screen in the theater! You'll be able to experience the realism!"
Kitamura, who plays the Typhoon Devil, commented, "I personally read the original work, so I'm honored to have been chosen for this production! I checked the direction of my acting at the dubbing site while recording, so I'm really looking forward to seeing the final result! Not only is the Typhoon Devil's performance amazing, but the dynamism of the visuals is amazing and overwhelming! I hope everyone will look forward to it!"
The "Reze" episode will be the story of Reze and the main character Denji, who also appeared at the end of the TV anime broadcast from October to December 2022 and became a hot topic. While Denji is enjoying a date with his crush Makima, he takes shelter from the rain and meets Reze, a girl who works at a cafe. The story is directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, who was the action director for the TV anime, and produced by MAPPA.
