The one-off variety show "Kininaru Are no En Dorol" (TV Asahi, excluding some regions), hosted by comedy duo Kirin's Akira Kawashima and talent Miki Fujimoto, will be broadcast from 11:15 pm on July 4th.
This program explores the stories behind familiar objects that we come into contact with casually, but are surprisingly unaware of. It covers the development of a unique flavor by a cup yakisoba company that has released 584 different flavors in about 50 years, and the annual Himeji Castle Clean-up Operation, a major cleanup of the World Heritage Site Himeji Castle by members of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Himeji Garrison. What is the dangerous work that has been talked about overseas as being "like ninjas"?
The program also takes a look behind the scenes at the Shinko Festival, a biennial event at the Tokyo Kanda Festival, one of Japan's three biggest festivals, which has been held since the Edo period. The program will take a look at the work of the priests at Kanda Shrine and how they manage the event to end safely and without accidents.
