TV Tokyo's popular information variety show "Appear! Ad Town Heaven" (Saturday 9pm) will feature Shodoshima (Kagawa Prefecture) in the Seto Inland Sea on its July 5th broadcast.
Shodoshima has many scenic spots, including Olive Park, which was used as a location for the live-action movie "Kiki's Delivery Service," and the filming set was also set up within the park. The program will introduce famous spots such as a hot spring inn with a spectacular view of the sunset over the Seto Inland Sea, a tour of the 88 sacred sites on the island, and the narrowest strait in the world, about 10 meters wide, certified by Guinness.
In addition, the "Shodoshima brand" will be introduced, including soy sauce made in a traditional wooden barrel with a 400-year history, and "Shodoshima somen," one of the three major long somen noodles in Japan. The show will also feature oysters (Magaki), which are sun-dried and delicious even in the summer, thick soy sauce ramen that is popular even in Kagawa Prefecture, the "udon prefecture," and simmered akou (a type of sea bass) from a shop run by a classmate of actor Saburo Ishikura, who is from Shodoshima.
The guests were Mr. Ishikura and freelance announcer Nakano Minako.
