It has been revealed that singer Keisuke Shigeru Mizuki will be performing the new ending theme "GeGeGe no Kitaro GeGeGe no Kitaro: My Beloved Gegege", a program that will air episodes selected by famous people connected to Kitaro from seasons 1 to 6 of the TV anime "Gegege no Kitaro", based on the manga by the late Shigeru Mizuki. The song's lyrics and composition will be written by Sheena Ringo, who was Yamauchi's senior at high school in the same hometown of Fukuoka. The song will be played as the ending theme from July 6th.
When Yamauchi met Shiina again at last year's NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, he asked her to "write a song for me someday," and about six months after that promise, their dream collaboration came true. Yamauchi said, "I'm filled with gratitude for being able to be involved in such a long-loved work as ' GeGeGe no Kitaro,' and for the bond that ' GeGeGe no Kitaro' has brought us, and for Sheena Ringo gracious acceptance."
Regarding "Yami GeGeGe no Kitaro itself is expressed through Shiina's lyrics and melody. It's an up-tempo, jazzy song with a very stylish sound." He said the song is full of melody and techniques, and Shiina requested that I sing in a way that I haven't done before, like groaning and shaking the letters at the beginning. I think I can deliver a new Yamauchi Keisuke with this song."
"GeGeGe no Kitaro: My Beloved GeGeGe" will feature favorite episodes selected by the voice actors who played Kitaro in the past, such as Masako Nozawa , Minami Takayama, Miyuki Sawashiro, and Miyuki Sawashiro, as well as famous people who have a connection to Kitaro. It is broadcast every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. on Fuji TV and other stations.
"GeGeGe no Kitaro" is a manga in which the main character Kitaro faces various incidents with his unique fellow monsters, Ratman and Sunakakebaara. The first season of the TV anime was broadcast in 1968-69, and it has been loved for over half a century since then. The sixth season, the first new work in about nine years since the fifth season, was broadcast on Fuji TV and other stations from April 2018 to March 2020, and became a hot topic for its depiction of black companies, social media addiction, immigration issues, etc., and Neko Musume with a model figure, also gained popularity. The movie version "Birth of Kitaro: The Mystery of GeGeGe," which was released in November 2023, was selected as the Outstanding Animation Award at the 47th Japan Academy Awards.
