On June 17th, the unit "Ooochie Koochie," comprised of musician Tamio Okuda and singer and actor Koji Kikkawa, attended the "OK!! Hiroshima (It's Oishii Kee, Hiroshima)" launch event held in Tokyo, where they engaged in lively conversation.
"Ooochie Koochie" is a limited-time unit formed in February this year by Okuda and Yoshikawa, who were both born in Hiroshima in 1965 and turned 60 this year, to give back to their hometown Hiroshima and liven up the whole of Japan. On the same day, it was announced that they would serve as cheering leaders for "OK!! Hiroshima," a project to promote the appeal of Hiroshima's food.
When the MC asked, "I think people of the same generation are really happy about the formation of the unit," Okuda smiled and said, "You should have done it sooner, right?" When Yoshikawa said, "If we had done it sooner, we might have split up," Okuda immediately "taunted" him, saying, "Are you talking about your band?" Laughter leaked from the audience, and Yoshikawa said, "Don't talk like that! I'm accepting it!", while reminiscing, "Well, if we had done it at 60 years old, it might have worked out..." The MC stopped him from digging any deeper, saying, "This is going in a dangerous direction (laughs)."
However, at the end of the event, when asked about their future goals, Okuda teased them again, saying, "I want to finish this safely, without any fights. I don't want it to turn out like the previous unit." Yoshikawa laughed and silently put his finger over his mouth to stop them.
Also appearing at the presentation were Ikeda Yoshinobu, Director of Hiroshima Prefecture's Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Brand Strategy Division, and Murakami Shohei, Manager of the Hiroshima Brand Shop TAU in Ginza, Tokyo, and a video message was also sent by Hiroshima Governor Yuzaki Hidehiko.
