The final episode of the WOWOW program "7 STARS - 7 Answers - Atsushi Sato Connects the Present of Hikaru Genji," in which Atsushi Sato, the youngest member of the national idol group Hikaru Genji that was all the rage in the 1980s and 1990s, visits other members of the group, will be broadcast on WOWOW Live and streamed on WOWOW On Demand from 9:00 p.m. on July 20th.
Hikaru Genji is a seven-member group consisting of "Hikaru" (light) consisting of Koji Utsumi and Itsuki Osawa, and "Genji" (Kazumi Morohoshi, Hiroyuki Sato, Junichi Yamamoto, Akira Akasaka, and Atsushi Sato). They debuted in 1987 with "STAR LIGHT" and won The Japan Record Awards the following year with "Paradise Galaxy". They continued to have hits such as "Taiyo ga Ippai" and "Lila no Saku Koro Barcelona e", becoming a social phenomenon as "Showa's Strongest Idols" before disbanding in 1995.
Thirty years after Hikaru Genji broke up, the youngest member, Sato, who was 13 when the group debuted, visits former members with one strong desire in mind. In the second episode, he visits Miyakojima to meet Akasaka, and in the third episode, he visits Osawa, who left the group the year before the group disbanded. In the fourth episode, Utsumi, Sato Hiroyuki, and Yamamoto candidly talk about their memories of that time and the reasons why they were reluctant to appear on the show.
In episode 5, Utsumi, Sato Hiroyuki, and Yamamoto shared their thoughts and feelings about Hikaru Genji, and Atsushi visited ASKA, who has written many songs for Hikaru Genji, including "STAR LIGHT," "Glass no Juudai," and "Paradise Galaxy," and shared his thoughts with him.
Episode 6 saw the reunion of Osawa and Akasaka, who had not had any contact until now, and a conversation between Atsushi and Yamamoto, who had felt a distance between them. Yamamoto, who had felt some resentment towards Atsushi, revealed his desire to get together with all the members he spent his youth with.
Will their feelings converge in the seventh and final episode? The final episode will be broadcast on WOWOW Live from 9pm on July 20th. It will also be streamed on WOWOW On Demand (archived streaming available after the broadcast/streaming ends). Episodes 1-6 are also currently being streamed on WOWOW On Demand. All six episodes of the series will be broadcast at once from 4:15pm on the 20th.
