Actor Fumino Kimura attended the press conference for "TV Asahi Drama Premium 'The Prison Guard's Way'" (June 21, 9pm) held at TV Asahi (Minato Ward, Tokyo) on June 11th. She appeared on stage in an elegant all-black outfit.
This is his first time acting alongside lead actor Takeuchi Ryoma. Normally, he's not the type to proactively communicate on set, but he said he spoke a lot with Takeuchi. "Takeuchi is really good at communicating. He's incredibly kind, and he treated me like a sibling. (When we were filming the drama) I'd been away from acting for a while, so I was nervous about coming back after such a long time, but thanks to Takeuchi I wasn't distressed and I was able to be on set, having fun talking. I learned what it means to be the lead actor," he said, expressing his impression.
Kimura announced that she is expecting her first child in July 2023. It was announced that filming for "The Prison Guard's Way" took place about two years ago.
The drama, starring Takeuchi, is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name (Takarajimasha, 2019) by Shinichi Shiroyama, the winner of the "This Mystery is Amazing!" Grand Prize, which is set in Kaga Prison in Ishikawa Prefecture. A passionate prison officer's "small kindness" towards one inmate leads to a major incident that could shake the prison system, and a detailed and ingenious mystery is solved, along with a rich human drama.
Takeuchi plays Munakata Akihiro, a young prison officer who works closely with inmates and does everything he can to help them rehabilitate, while Kimura plays Hiishi Tsukasa, a career prison officer who has experience working in a prison in France and is always calm and hard to read.
