It has been revealed that Ooochie Koochie, a unit formed in February this year by musician Tamio Okuda and singer/actor Koji Kikkawa, has written the show's first theme song for the popular TV Asahi variety show "Kaere Monday Mikke-tai!!"
The song is called "Monday". The lyrics are sprinkled with phrases that play on the names of the MC comedy duo "Taka and Toshi" and "Sandwich Man", as well as phrases that fit the show, such as "I can't go home" and "Let's go to the next town".
Yoshikawa commented, "I sang this song with all my heart, hoping that everyone in Sand and TakaToshi will enjoy their walk and continue their journey in good health forever." Okuda commented humorously, "That's true! TakaToshi and Sand appear in the lyrics! As expected!"
It will be used as the theme song for the three-hour special broadcast on June 23. Okuda and Yoshikawa will also appear on the 23rd broadcast, touring their hometown of Hiroshima with Sandwichman and talk about the thoughts they put into the song and the behind-the-scenes stories of its creation.
Taka and Toshi expressed their gratitude, saying, "You two were superstars during our youth! If you listen to the lyrics, you'll hear that they're singing about us and Sandwich Man. I want to walk around listening to this! We're truly grateful."
Sandwichman expressed their delight, saying, "I'm so glad that these two people I love created the theme song for us, and we're doing this for nine years! Since we created the theme song in the ninth year (of the show), it can't end so soon. It feels like we've just gotten started."
