It has been revealed that Keiko Shibata's popular picture book "The Bread Thief" (KADOKAWA), which has sold over 4.5 million copies in total, will be made into an anime. The first volume of the popular picture book series, "The Bread Thief," was published in April 2020 and has been selected for various awards, including the Grand Prize at the 11th Libro Picture Book Awards. Details of the anime will be announced in the future. It was also announced that the seventh and latest volume in the series, "The Bread Thief and the Sweets Prince," will be released on September 10th.
"The Bread Thief" is a story about a Bread Thief wrapped in bread who causes trouble in his search for tasty bread. So far, "The Bread Thief," "The Bread Thief vs. the Bread Thief ," "The Bread Thief Bread Thief and the Mysterious French Bread," "The Bread Thief and the Rice Ball Boy's Journey," " The Bread Thief and the Hot Bread Hocker," and "The Bread Thief and the Apple Clover" have been published.
Shibata contributed an illustration to celebrate the anime adaptation, commenting, "I am very thrilled that the decision has been made to make an anime version of ' The Bread Thief.'
