The NHK Asadora drama series "Anpan " starring Mio Imada (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 a.m. and others) aired its 8th week, "Meeting and Parting." In the 38th episode on May 21, Nobu (Imada) murmurs about what Ranko ( Yuumi Kawai) is so great about.
"Anpan" is based on the married couple Takashi Yanase(1919-2013) and Nobuyuki (1918-1993), the manga artist and picture book writer who created "Anpanman." It is a "story of love and courage" that will make you feel the joy of living, depicting how these two, who were once nobody, overcame all sorts of rough seas and arrived at "Anpanman," the embodiment of "unreversible justice."
In episode 38, the Asada family is heartbroken by the news that Go (Kanata Hosoda) has been killed in battle. While everyone else is saying, "Go is a great man," Ranko remains silent. Nobu has no words to say to Ranko, who stays up in the middle of the night lighting incense. The next day, when Nobu's student comes to pay his respects and says that he wants to serve his country well one day, Ranko is unable to bear it and leaves.
Standing in the stone yard, Ranko's memories of Go come back to her. When Nobu comes looking for her, Ranko mutters that she wonders what's so great about him...
