The 19th episode of the NHK Taiga drama " UNBOUND (Berabou) " (General TV, Sundays at 8pm and others), starring actor Ryusei Yokohama , entitled "A Souvenir of Scales", was broadcast on May 18th, depicting the commotion surrounding Chiho-no-kata ( Rin Takanashi Rin)'s suicide by poison.
"UNBOUND (Berabou)" is the 64th taiga drama, depicting the life of Tsutaya Juzaburo(or "Tsutajyu" for short), who is said to have built the foundations of Japan's media industry and pop culture. The script was written by Yoshiko Morishita, known for "Drama 10 'Ooku'" which was broadcast on NHK two years ago and became a big hit.
In episode 19, Urokogataya (Kataoka Ainosuke), who has fallen into financial difficulties and decided to close his store, is discussing his future with Tsuruya (Shunsuke Kazama) and Nishimuraya (Nishimura Masahiko).
On the spot, it was decided that Harumachi Koikawa (Amane Okayama), a writer employed by Urokogataya, would write for Tsuruya from now on. Tsutaju (Yokohama) was planning a strategy to acquire Harumachi in order to counter the power of local book wholesalers in the city.
Meanwhile, in Edo Castle, Chiho caused a commotion by committing suicide by poison... and so things continued to unfold.
Although Chiho survived, Takaoka (Tominaga Ai) thought that it was a farce orchestrated by women. Meanwhile, Horen-in (Hanafusa Mari) visits Chiho, but Chiho reveals that the poison was "just right" for her by Osaki (Emi Kurara), who is knowledgeable about medicine.
According to the official website, Osaki, who was seen grinning behind Ieshige (Hidekazu Mashima), who rushed over in concern during the commotion, is "the wet nurse of the 11th shogun, Ienari, and is said to have wielded enormous power in the Ooku after Ienari became shogun."
