A new visual and short PV of Zanka, who appears in the TV anime " Gachiakuta ", based on the battle action manga by Kei Urana Kei currently serialized in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha), have been released. The visual combines a new drawing by character designer and chief animation director Satoshi Ishino with the character graffiti logo by Hideyoshi Ando, who is in charge of the "graffiti design" of the original work, and shows Zanka carrying a stick around his neck with a skilled look on his face, accompanied by the line, "Don't underestimate mediocre people."
Voice actor Yoshitsugu Matsuoka said, "At first impression, he seems blunt, but I think he is a character with strong beliefs. When I first received the script, I screamed inside myself, 'This is different from the Zanka I had imagined.' I remember that as I continued reading the script and the original work, I finally understood the true nature of that sense of incongruity. It was only after understanding his experiences and past that I was able to play Zanka." The short PV is peppered with lines that mix with Zanka's unique dialect.
"Gachiakuta" began serialization in February 2022 in "Weekly Shonen Magazine." The story is about an orphan boy named Rudo who was born in a slum where the descendants of criminals live. He makes a living using his extraordinary physical abilities, but one day he is framed for a crime he did not commit and is thrown into the "abyss" that even the people of the slums fear. The series won the Global Special Award in the comics category of the "Next Manga Awards 2022."
The anime will be broadcast on CBC TV/TBS's anime slot "Agaru Anime" from July.
