It has been announced that the original episode "Yakushima no Yamahime (Part 1 and Part 2)" set in Gosho Aoyama, Kagoshima, of the TV anime "Detective Conan" (Yomiuri TV/Nippon TV affiliates, Saturday 6pm), based on the popular manga by Gosho Aoyama, will be broadcast for two consecutive weeks on February 15th and 22nd. A special visual has been released depicting Conan Edogawa, Ran Mouri, and Kogoro Mouri visiting Yakushima. The visual depicts famous sites on Yakushima such as Wilson Stump and Shiratani Unsuikyo Gorge, evoking a sense of the grand nature and mystery.
It was also announced that Kagoshima Yomiuri TV announcers Naoyuki Uchida and Asami Yokoyama will appear as themselves in the episode. The Kagoshima area information program "Kagopita FAMILIAR," for which the two serve as MCs, will also be featured in the story.
To commemorate the decision to broadcast the show, a special promotional video was released on YouTube in which Conan demonstrates his Kagoshima dialect. Conan perfectly reproduces the intonation of the script, which is full of dialect phrases such as "I've never seen the only truth," and "He looks like a child but has the mind of an adult," and announcers Uchida and Yokoyama praised him, saying, "He's really good at it!"
In "Yakushima no Yamahime (Part 1 and Part 2)," Kogoro, Conan, and Ran visit Yakushima in Kagoshima Prefecture, where they head to Jomon Cedar with the guidance of Kitabeppu Aya, the guide who first discovered the body, to investigate the case of a body abandoned there. As they struggle with the long climb, the group hears the legend of the Yamahime, which is passed down on Yakushima. The Yamahime is said to be a terrifying monster that sucks human blood. At that moment, they witness a person being chased by someone fall off a cliff. The victim loses consciousness while muttering "Yamahime"... and so the story unfolds.
