It has been revealed that the first episode (broadcast on January 9th) of the Thursday Drama " Japan's Number One Jerk Salaryman " (Fuji TV, Thursdays at 10pm), starring Shingo Katori, has been viewed over 2 million times on TVer (according to Video Research, measurement period: January 9th-22nd).
The drama is about a TV newsman who gets involved in a scandal and finds himself on the brink of collapse, but then decides to run for office in order to change Japan, and is an "election and fake family drama." This is the first time in 11 years that Katori has starred in a Fuji TV drama series.
In the first episode, Ippei Omori (Katori), a news program producer, is forced to resign from his job due to a scandal. He moves into his parents' home left by his father and lives a dull life, virtually unemployed, despite calling himself a freelance political journalist.
One day, Ippei receives advice from his childhood friend from elementary school, Kojiro Makabe ( Ken Yasuda Jun Hashimoto ), and decides to become a politician. He tries to get back on track in life by aiming to win the next ward assembly election, but...
