It has been announced that the live performance "Christmas Picnic" held by singer-songwriter Takako Okamura on December 21st at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (Shibuya Public Hall, Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) to commemorate the 40th anniversary of her solo debut will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW in March 2025. WOWOW is also planning to broadcast a special program on Okamura in April, making it the second consecutive month of special coverage.
Okamura participated in the 23rd Yamaha Popular Song Contest (Popcon) in 1982 as the duo "Amin". They won the grand prize with "Matsuwa", which Okamura wrote the lyrics and composed. "Matsuwa" became Amin's debut song and became a million-seller.
She stopped performing as Aming in December 1983. In October 1985, she made her solo debut with the single "Kaze wa Umi Kara" and the album "Yume no Ki." Her song "Yume wo Akiramenaide" (Don't Give Up on Your Dreams) (February 1987) became a long-selling song and was included in junior high school music textbooks, becoming a timeless song that has been sung ever since.
Okamura's life work is the special live show "Christmas Picnic" that he holds every December. This year, the 18th since it began in 1988, was held at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on the 21st, following previous performances at Niterra Civic Hall (Nagoya City, Naka Ward, December 6th) and Osaka International House (Osaka City, Tennoji Ward, December 12th).
WOWOW will broadcast and stream the live performance at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA titled "Takako Okamura Special Live "Christmas Picnic"" in March of next year. In April, they will broadcast and stream the live performance held at the old Shibuya Public Hall on September 27, 2015, just before it closed, titled "Takako Okamura Concert 2015 "T's GARDEN ~ Shibuya Public Hall FINAL ~".
