"The House in the Middle of Nowhere" (ABC TV/TV Asahi) is a variety show that uses satellite photos as clues to search for a secluded house. It will be broadcast as a two-hour special on December 15th from 7pm. The show is set in the great outdoors of Hokkaido, and the search team follows the lives of a Hokkaido rancher who trains racehorses for the "Ban'ei Horse Racing" race, and a man who leaves his home with his wife to work alone in the mountains.
The guests were talent Mami Yamase and actor Rikka Ihara. Ms. Yamase declared, "In reality, it's probably impossible. I can't do farm work or live a self-sufficient life." Meanwhile, Ms. Ihara revealed an unexpected side of herself, saying, "I really want to live in the great outdoors! I have a flying squirrel and a lizard, but there's no place in Tokyo where I can take them for a walk..." as she talked about her longing for a life in the great outdoors.
The search team headed to eastern Hokkaido. In the village, a local man (67) looked at a house on a satellite photo, and he told them, "There is a man in his 70s working in the mountains. But he may not be there during the day." When the search team entered the mountain path he had been told about, they found a landscape that looked like a jungle. After passing through a long stretch of forest and going a while, they came across a bright blue roofed one-story house. But there was no one there. The search team returned to the man they had spoken to in the village.
The man then contacted a mutual acquaintance who runs a ranch. The search team visited the ranch to talk to him. According to the ranch owner (77), the man who lives in a house at their destination does not return home until night. So the search team decided to talk to the ranch owner. He says that his job is breeding race horses. Moreover, he is a race horse in "Ban'ei horse racing," where horses compete in strength and speed while pulling a sled. He is currently only raising one horse, but the search team was intrigued and heard deep stories about life in the area as well as the history of "Ban'ei horse racing."
The search team was treated to a meal using vegetables grown in the home, and then headed to the house they had originally been heading for. The scenery in the forest at night was completely different from daytime. After passing through the darkness with no street lights, they finally reached the house and were able to meet the man (78) who had returned home.
He was born and raised here, and it used to be a village of more than 20 houses, but now there is only one house left, this man who works in the mountains. In fact, he has a house in a village about 40 kilometers away, where his wife lives, but he says, "We've been living separately for the past 15 or 16 years." However, as the search team followed the man's life closely, they discovered a story of a couple connected by deep love. MC George Tokoro was moved and said, "Amazing! That's love!"
