It has been announced that "BULLET/BULLET", a completely new original anime by director Sunghoo Park, known for the anime "Jujutsu Kaisen", will be exclusively distributed on Disney+ in the summer of 2025. The anime is based on Park's ideas that he has had for about 10 years, and is set in a near-future world where civilization has collapsed and become a wilderness. A teaser visual and a super trailer have been released, showing a boy, a polar bear, and a classic car with a robot driving around.
The main staff has also been announced. Director Park will be in charge of the original idea, with Kindaichishi, who has worked on "Uma Musume Cinderella Gray", etc., as the series composition and scriptwriter, Yoshimatsu Takahiro, who has worked on "HUNTER×HUNTER" and "Overlord", as the character design and general animation director, and Tenjin Hidetaka, who has worked on the "Macross" series, as the concept and mechanic design. Misawa Shin, who has worked on "Initial D First Stage" and "capeta", will serve as the car action director. The anime will be produced by E&H production, an animation production company led by Director Park.
Director Park commented, "I'm very happy that what I felt 10 years ago about BULLET/BULLET has now been made into a film. I hope everyone will watch the story of the protagonist Gear's growth, and enjoy the music, the voice actors' acting, and especially the car action this time. I'm personally excited to be working with the staff members I admire. BULLET/BULLET is a film filled with great feelings! I hope everyone enjoys it. Go ahead!!" Kindaichi said, "When we decided to make 'Bare Bare', our goal was to make it a 'cheerful film'. We wanted to deliver to the audience an experience like an attraction, where they can be excited by the unconventional world, laugh at the crazy characters, and feel their heart race at the flashy action... We worked hard together with everyone on set, hoping to deliver that kind of experience to the viewers without any stress. Now it's the turn of the Gears to drive around. The best part of this film is undoubtedly the 'cars'. A cool car racing through a dusty wilderness - this classic combination has been turned into a super stylish and cool image thanks to Director Park's sense. Please enjoy the sight of the Gears racing through the wilderness in their beloved 'Bullet' with a popcorn in hand...!" Yoshimatsu said, "I was unexpectedly asked to take part in this project. Working with new staff at a new studio is very stimulating (currently in its final stages). Every day I hold a pencil and struggle to straddle the boundary between analog and digital, but I am once again feeling the joy of making anime. I hope that this joy will be conveyed to everyone through the video."
Tenjin commented, "I have always wanted to work with Director Park on an original project, and my wish has finally come true. In this work, I designed not only all the mecha that appear, but also the world view in which the characters move around. This includes something that I was the only one who desperately resisted, but you will understand that when you watch the video! Please look forward to Director Park's original, lovable characters and mecha, spectacular action, and absurd story!"
Misawa said, "Director Park and 3D supervisor Suga (Tomohiko) asked me to look after the cars, and like a fish, I took the bait that was dropped in front of me! I couldn't wait to see it finished, so I started adding the CG motions myself, but the software I normally use is different from the software used in the studio, so I asked the CG animators to 'watch the sample movie to see the movement,' and I felt bad for asking them to do something unreasonable. It was difficult to create the motions to make the 'Bullet' run based on Director Park's storyboard image, but it was a fun and happy time trying different things and trying different things... Please take a look to see what kind of car action we created!" ◇Staff (titles omitted)
