New visuals have been released for Nintama Rantaro the Movie: Dokutake Ninja Corps' Strongest Strategist, the upcoming theatrical version of the popular anime series Nintama Rantaro. The visual depicts Doi-sensei, also known as Doi Hansuke, teacher of first-year class A, and Amagi, the strategist of the Dokutake Ninja Corps who looks identical to Doi, standing back to back, along with the copy, "Doi Hansuke, missing," and "Amagis attacks." It was also announced that Seki Toshihiko, who plays Doi-sensei, will be the voice actor for Amagi. The new visuals will be on display at Animate Ikebukuro Main Store (Toshima-ku, Tokyo) from November 20th to December 31st.
It was also announced that the theater program and merchandise will be available for purchase at theaters nationwide and on Froovie, an online shopping site, Shochiku Store, from the release date of December 20th. The cinema program comes in two versions, a regular version and a deluxe version. The deluxe version includes a roundtable discussion with Takayama Minami (Rantaro), Tanaka Mayumi (Kirimaru), Ichiryusai Sadatomo (Shinbei), and Seki (Doi-sensei), as well as a conversation with guest voice actors Onishi Ryusei and Fujiwara Joichiro from the popular group Naniwa Danshi. It also includes interviews with staff members including director Fujimori Masaya, original author Amako Soubei, screenwriter Sakaguchi Kazuhisa, music composer Makaino Koji, and character designer Niyama Emiko. The regular version is priced at 880 yen, while the deluxe version is priced at 2,500 yen.
Dokutake Ninja Corps' Strongest Strategist is the first Nintama Rantaro animated film in about 13 years since 2011's Nintama Rantaro: Ninjutsu Academy All Out!. The novel "Novel: Rantaro the Failed Ninja: Dokutake Ninja Corps Strongest Strategist" based on Amako's original manga "Rantaro the Failed Ninja" will be adapted for the first time. After facing a duel challenged by Tasogaredoki ninja Moroizumi Sonnamon, Doi-sensei disappears, and while Yamada-sensei and the sixth graders of the Ninjutsu Academy search for Doi-sensei, a white darkness creeps into the academy... The story is set to be released on December 20th.
"Nintama Rantaro" is based on Amako's manga "Rantaro the Failed Ninja". It is a slapstick comedy about a group of ninja trainees who enroll in the Ninjutsu Academy with the goal of becoming top ninjas. The original manga began serialization in the Asahi Elementary School Newspaper in April 1986. It came to an end in October 2019 after 33 years of serialization. The TV anime began airing in 1993. The 32nd series is currently being broadcast on NHK Educational TV every Monday to Friday from 6:50 pm.
