It was announced at a press conference held on November 19th at NHK Hall (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) that the popular group Number_i will make its first appearance on the 75th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen, which will be broadcast on New Year's Eve.
Number_i is a trio consisting of Hirano Sho, Jinguji Yuta, and Kishi Yuta. They released their debut song "GOAT" on New Year's Day this year, and their first full album "No.I" (Number One) in September. They are very active, holding a live tour from October 3rd to December 26th.
Jinguji said that he "had no idea" about appearing on Kouhaku, saying, "Last year, I was just watching, so I never thought I would be performing. I think it's amazing that we debuted on New Year's and can perform on New Year's Eve. I wasn't even thinking about (Kouhaku), but I'm honored and happy."
He revealed that he "hasn't been able to tell" the president of his management agency, Takizawa Hideaki, yet. "I woke up, got in the car and we'd arrived at NHK (laughing)," said Hirano, who said he didn't know until this morning. "It's only thanks to the president's support that I'm able to appear this time. I want to convey my gratitude to him."
The 75th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen will be broadcast from 7:20pm to 11:45pm on December 31st (with some news interruptions). The hosts will be Ariyoshi Hiroiki, Hashimoto Kanna, Ito Sari, and announcer Suzuki Naoko.
