It has been announced that singer-songwriter Kiiro Akiyama will collaborate with Sui Ishida's latest work, Chojin X, who is known for the manga series Tokyo Ghoul, which has been adapted into a TV anime and a live-action film. A collaborative song written by Akiyama with Chojin X in mind will be released on November 19th, the release date of the latest 11th volume of the manga.
Akiyama has said that he has been a fan of Chojin X for a long time, and has written a song that allows the reader to experience the world of the work in greater depth. Ishida also mentioned Akiyama's music at the end of volumes 8 and 9 of the Chojin X manga, and drew the main characters Tokio and Azuma on the jacket for the collaborative song.
Akiyama said, "Congratulations! The release of the 11th volume of 'Chojin X' is just around the corner! I'm looking forward to it! For me, written information has been 'manga' for half my life, so I'm very excited to be able to write a song for my favorite manga, not just for an anime. Thank you so much, Sui-sensei, for this honorable opportunity. I've been reading it for a long time!!! If the original author himself could write the music for a work with art and sound, the purity of that would be incomparable, but I think that's why the composer can put his heart and soul into it. I think it turned out to be a cool song." Ishida commented, "To coincide with the publication of the 11th volume of 'Superhuman X,' we asked Kiiro Akiyama to create an image song for the work. I have always loved Akiyama's music, and I feel that the unique appeal of his lyrics has deepened especially since 'Hotaru'. I learned through social media that Akiyama was also reading the work, so when I asked him to create a song this time, he gladly accepted. Akiyama's 'Wannabe' is a song that is fitting for this work, as it harmonizes with the world view of 'Superhuman X' and expresses the charm of the work. I hope everyone will listen to it. Thank you, Akiyama, for this wonderful song."
'Superhuman X' has been serialized on Shueisha's manga site 'Tonari no Young Jump' since May 2021. The story is set in a world more than 50 years after the World Nation, which was in chaos due to the increase in superhumans with superhuman abilities in 1998, was divided into 'autonomous prefectures,' and depicts the 'superhuman's' 'superhuman's' battle action.
