Yui (Hashimoto) is thinking about what to do about her relationship with Shoya (Sano Hayato) and suggests they become e-mail friends.
Meanwhile, Shoya is told by the baseball team's coach to give up everything except baseball, but he is happy that Yui's suggestion means they can stay in touch without the coach getting angry. Yui then starts studying about nutrition, albeit as a temporary measure, in order to send e-mails to Shoya.
"Omusubi" is a "Heisei youth graffiti" in which the heroine, born in 1989, connects people's hearts and futures as a nutritionist, with her "gal spirit" of valuing her individuality at all times.
