On July 18th, former TV Tokyo announcer and talent Kasumi Mori attended a press conference for the TV drama series "Ubai Ai, Manatsu" (TV Asahi, Friday 11:15pm *excluding some regions) at the TV Asahi headquarters (Minato Ward, Tokyo). She appeared in a sleeveless dress that accentuated her slender upper arms.
In this work, Mori plays the character Hanabi Yamagami, whose actions lead the protagonist played by Marika Matsumoto to a commotion. "He's a pretty nasty guy (laughs). He has a line that goes, 'Bang!', so I understood why he was named Hanabi," she said. She confirmed with screenwriter Osamu Suzuki, who appeared on stage with her, "Is it correct to interpret this as someone who is just enjoying being mean?" and got the OK.
Regarding the line "Boom!", Suzuki said, "Whenever 'Castle in the Sky' is broadcast on TV, (the spell) 'Balse' becomes a trending topic, right? I wrote it in that same vein. It's summer, so I hope it will get people excited with (the 'boom!')."
The drama is a new installment in the "Ubai Ai" series, which has become a hot topic due to its messy love-hate drama and the cast's bizarre performances. Matsumoto plays the lead role, with Ken Yasuda Ken playing the co-star. After breaking up with her lover, Umino Manatsu (Matsumoto) makes a fresh start by switching jobs from a photo magazine reporter to working in PR for the watch manufacturer "TOWANI". However, TOWANI's president, Sorachi Taimu (Yasuda), looks just like her ex-boyfriend. Despite the fact that Taimu has a wife, Mirai (Maryjun Takahashi), she falls in forbidden love.
The main cast members Matsumoto, Yasuda, Takahashi, and Shirahama Alan also attended the press conference.
