82-year-old singer Isao Bito will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), airing on April 15th at 1 PM. This year marks his 62nd year since his major debut as a solo singer.
He says the secret to his continued energy on stage is walking and going to public baths. This year, he challenged himself to record a new song for the first time in 28 years, and revealed that he memorized the lyrics while sleeping, in true rockabilly fashion. He also talked about the changes he's experienced since turning 80.
Mr. Bito served as the opening act for The Beatles' concert in Japan exactly 60 years ago, and had the opportunity to hear The Beatles perform up close. This time, he will also be performing some of The Beatles' famous songs in the studio.
