Actor Ryoma Takeuchi appeared at a press conference held at TV Asahi headquarters (Minato Ward, Tokyo) on January 5th for the drama "Reunion ~Silent Truth~" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9pm), which he stars in and which starts on the 13th. He revealed that he has continued to grow taller even after turning 20.
Appearing in a hakama (traditional Japanese formal kimono) to celebrate the new year, Takeuchi replied on a flip chart, "About 3 centimeters more," explaining, "Right now I'm 187 centimeters tall, and if I'm going to get up to 190 centimeters, I'd like to do so."
When asked by announcer Ayaka Hironaka what she is doing to grow taller, she smiled and said, "Nothing in particular, but I do exercise and eat properly." She is currently 32 years old, but revealed that she grew taller between the ages of 20 and 30, and expressed her hopes that "I think there's still more to come," declaring, "In 2026, I'll change my profile to 190 cm (lol)!"
The drama is based on Yokoseki Dai's novel "Reunion" (Kodansha), which won the 56th Edogawa Rampo Prize (2010), and stars Takeuchi. Four elementary school classmates share a "secret": they buried the gun used in a crime under a cherry tree. 23 years later, Junichi (Takeuchi), now a detective, reunites with his first love, Iwamoto Makiko (Inoue Mao), one of the four, only to find she has become a suspect in a new murder case. This heartbreaking human love mystery begins with a fateful reunion. Inoue, Koji Seto, and Watanabe Daichi also appeared at the press conference.
