It was announced on December 21st that "Haikyu!! The Movie: Haikyu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump!! The Movie," based on the popular volleyball manga by Haruichi Furudate, "Haikyu!! The Movie: Battle at the Dump," will be released in 2027. The film follows Hinata Shoyo and his team, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the Spring High School Volleyball Tournament after a fierce battle with Nekoma High School, as they face off against Kamomedai High School, led by Hoshiumi Kourai. It was also announced that the special anime "Haikyu!! Where the Monsters Go," which depicts the battle between Fukurodani Academy High School and Tanukizaka High School at the Spring High School Volleyball Tournament, will be released in 2027.
A new promotional video using original drawings from new scenes in the anime has been released, along with a new visual titled "Warming Up Visual." It depicts the elated eyes of Hinata Shoyo of Karasuno High School and Bokuto Kotaro of Fukurodani Academy.
"Haikyu!! The Movie: VS Little Giants" and "Haikyu!! Where the Monsters Go" will be directed and written by Susumu Mitsunaka. They will be produced by Production IG.
"Haikyu!!" was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from February 2012 to July 2020. The story follows Hinata Shoyo, who suffered a crushing defeat in his final official match as a junior high school student, as he reunites with Kageyama Tobio, a member of the opposing team, at Karasuno High School's volleyball team, and together they aim to reach the top. The total number of copies of the comic, including digital versions, published has exceeded 75 million.
The first season of the TV anime aired from April to September 2014, the second from October 2015 to March 2016, the third from October to December 2016, and the first cour of the fourth season aired from January to April 2020, and the second cour from October to December 2020. The first part of the new film series, "Haikyu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump," was released in February 2024 and was a huge hit, grossing over 20 billion yen worldwide.
