The variety special "Sakurai Sho's One Night Study," hosted by Sakurai Sho, will air on Fuji TV's "Saturday Premium" slot (Saturdays at 9 PM) on December 13th. Sakurai will stay up all night to cover popular spots, and quiz the studio members about what he learned and what surprised him there. This will be the second installment of the series, having aired in May this year as Fuji TV's first program to feature Sakurai alone.
The locations for this interview were the Japan Coast Guard's 7th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters (Kitakyushu City) and Universal Studios Japan (Konohana Ward, Osaka City).
Accompanying them on location at the 7th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters was Seiya Suezawa from the popular group " Ae! group ." Both of them were dressed in Coast Guard uniforms and were full of energy. They were excited to see the rare sights, such as entering the wheelhouse where the ship is steered and watching the massive water spray from the ship, exclaiming "Amazing!" and "Cool!!" They also took part in a helicopter rescue training exercise held late at night. Even Sakurai, who has a wide range of reporting experience, looked nervous the moment he got on the helicopter. And what about the downwash that Suezawa experienced from under the helicopter, a wind so strong that it even distorted his face?
Later, as it gets late at night and his physical strength gradually declines, he experiences the rigorous training of a "super elite unit" of divers, a rank that only 1% of Japan Coast Guard employees nationwide can achieve.
At Universal Studios Japan, comedian Daisuke Miyagawa accompanies Sakurai. The two cover the park's special "nighttime appearance," which changes overnight from Halloween to Christmas. They witness the artisanal skills of the staff in charge of decorating the park, who quickly create handrails and wooden boxes that fit the park's unique theme, and the cleaners who wipe down 100 windows without leaving a single fingerprint, ensuring a comfortable stay for visitors. The two are so moved by the unsung efforts of the staff that they say "it brings them to tears."
The final scene was a look at the rehearsal for the Christmas show. As this was the first day of on-stage rehearsals, the cast was highly enthusiastic, and rehearsals continued until just before 4am. Sakurai also had an unexpected "awakening," and performed an enthusiastic dance performance along with the cast to the music of the show.
The studio guests and video guests are as follows (in alphabetical order, titles omitted): <Studio guests> Imori Miyuki ▽ Kazulaser (Maple Chogokin) ▽ Sato Shiori ▽ Shinozuka Daiki (timelesz) ▽ Shibata Eiji (Untouchable) ▽ Matsushima So (timelesz) ▽ Yamaguchi Tomoko <VTR guests> Seiya Suezawa(Ae! group) ▽ Miyagawa Daisuke
◇Comment from Sho Sakurai
(Regarding filming at the Japan Coast Guard) There was a sense of tension, as if an incident or accident could happen at any time, even in the middle of the night. In fact, there were two reports of such incidents during filming. What made an impression on me was that everyone was working under such high tension, even in the middle of the night. Another thing was the intensity of the downwash. Suezawa-kun's camera, who was under the helicopter, was broken, so I realized that the wind must have been quite strong. I was also amazed at how the rescuers jumped down to the person in need of help without any hesitation, using a single rope in just a few seconds.
(Regarding the location shoot at Universal Studios Japan) I thought it was all the more special because it wasn't the theme park's usual nighttime appearance, but rather the limited time period when Halloween turns into Christmas. In addition, I was grateful to be able to see how the crew go about their daily work, such as the crew's dining room and cleaning, which are aspects that normally wouldn't be shown to the public. I also had the opportunity to watch the Christmas show rehearsals, and I often rehearse for concerts that go on until late into the night before the opening day. I was able to get a sense of what goes on behind the scenes, bringing smiles to so many people's faces, and there were many parts I could relate to.
