Actor Kuranosuke Sasaki attended a press conference for the BS period drama "Haguregumo," which will start on January 4, 2026, held at the NHK Broadcasting Center in Shibuya, Tokyo on November 27th. He expressed his joy at playing the role of a married couple with Kana Kurashina.
Sasaki plays the main character, Furuwa Kumo, a fluffy and elusive character, while Kurashina plays Kumo's wife, Kame, who is easygoing and charming.
When asked what is so great about Kurashina, Sasaki replied, "I think she's just as wonderful as she looks." He smiled and said, "I pumped my fist in the air when I saw Kurashina (playing the wife role). I thought, 'Yes!' I was really happy."
However, when asked about the fact that Kumo takes a long time to return home in the film, he confessed, "I wonder what he's doing," but then reflected, "I feel calm when the three of us (including my son) are together. Kurashina-san makes it feel natural that we're a family. It was a comfortable atmosphere."
Kurashina spoke about Sasaki's charm, saying, "I was really happy to be able to act with Kuranosuke. He's very considerate and can do anything. His every move is truly beautiful, and I thought he was so cool next to me that I wondered if he was performing Japanese dance."
Also attending the press conference were Issey Issey Ogata, producer Motohiko Sano, and director Takashi Isshiki.
"Fuurai Cloud" is a period drama based on the manga of the same name by George Akiyama. The setting is Shinagawa-shuku at the end of the Edo period. "Fuurai Cloud" is an eccentric man who wears a woman's kimono and has his hair tied in front of his forehead. With a fluffy and elusive appearance, he lives his days freely, but before you know it, he gently changes the destinies of people. A hymn to humanity with laughter and tears.
