The sixth episode of the drama series "Broadcasting Station Occupy" (NTV, Saturdays at 9 PM), starring Sakurai Sho, aired on August 16th. In the episode, the true identity of a "traitor" within the police force was revealed, sparking a stir on social media.
◇The following contains spoilers.
In episode 6, it is revealed that the armed group that has taken over the TV station, the demon "Hannya," is actually Ibuki (Kato Seishiro), the brother-in-law of Musashi (Sakurai) and a Metropolitan Police Department BCCT investigator. How did Ibuki, who was supposed to have been abducted at the TV station, become a demon? Not only the command headquarters, but also Ibuki's sister, Yuko (Manami Higa), are confused.
Ibuki demands of Musashi, "I've given you all the clues. You have two hours to uncover your darkness and reveal why I became a Hannya." If he doesn't make it in time, one of the hostages will die from the poison gas. Searching for clues, Musashi begins looking into the "Kamaitachi Incident" that occurred five years ago.
The "Kamaitachi Incident" was a case in which Ibuki's girlfriend, Kozu Fuka, stabbed journalist Amuro Mitsuru and university student Shiraishi Junren to death with a knife in broad daylight, and it was Musashi who arrested Fuka. Fuka then committed suicide after her arrest. Musashi thought Ibuki's goal was to expose the real culprit of the crime on TV... and so the story unfolded.
In this episode, Musashi discovers that two previously discovered charred bodies belong to Nopperabou, a jack-of-all-trades in the underworld, and investigates Nopperabou's last known location. After obtaining the evidence, Musashi begins to tell Ibuki the truth behind the "Kamaitachi Incident" five years ago. On the day of the incident, Fuka and Junko see Nopperabou carrying the body of journalist Mitsuru Amuro. Junko is then murdered by Nopperabou, and Fuka is injected with illegal drugs, making her the murderer.
Furthermore, Musashi reveals that the real culprit who killed Mitsuru and asked Nopperabo to cover up the crime is Yashiro (Takahashi Katsunori), the head of the Metropolitan Police Department's security department. Afterwards, investigators under the direction of Honjo (Kumi Takiuchi) urge Yashiro, who is on the roof, to accompany them, but Yashiro remains unfazed, saying, "You've worked hard, let's go."
On social media, the revelation of the mastermind within the police caused a stir with comments such as "Seriously?", "It's Yashiro after all!", and "I knew it was suspicious." Furthermore, as Yashiro was calmly and unfazedly taken into custody, some commented, "Is it really that easy to catch someone?" and "There seems to be something more shady going on."
