"Platinum Family" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 7pm *excluding some areas) is a program that introduces the lifestyle of the "gorgeous family = Platinum Family." On July 29th, a two-hour special will be aired, peeking into the real face of Keiji Tagawa, a bead embroidery designer who serves as the costume producer for Tetsuko Kuroyanagi.
Tagawa has been Kuroyanagi's costume producer for the past 10 years and has been close to her both professionally and personally. In this program, the cast visits Tagawa's villa, a pure white building reminiscent of a modern art museum, nestled in the forests of Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture.
Apparently Kuroyanagi is a frequent visitor, and there is even a room just for her in the villa, a "Tetsuko's Room." The villa is a replacement for a building built by Tagawa's great-grandfather in the Taisho era, who was a politician credited with laying the foundations for modern democracy. It is also revealed that Tagawa's other great-grandfather was the president of a large textile company.
Why did Tagawa decide to become a bead embroidery designer despite being born into such a family? The answer was her older brother, a graphic designer who designs packaging for well-known items such as canned coffee and soft drinks.
What words did his brother say to him that encouraged him to quit his job and enter the world of bead embroidery? He also talks about the surprising journey he took to overcome hardships and establish himself as a leading bead embroidery designer.
