It has been revealed that the special new unit "PiKi", a collaboration between idol group "FRUITS ZIPPER" member Karen Matsumoto and "CUTIE STREET" member Haruka Sakuraba, will be performing the ending theme "Kawaii Kaiwai" for season 2 of the TV anime "Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru (Kise Koi)", based on the popular manga by Shinichi Fukuda that was serialized in "Young Gangan" (Square Enix). An illustration featuring "Kise Koi"'s Kitagawa Marin and "PiKi" has also been released. The illustration was drawn by animator Saki Takahashi.
Matsumoto commented, "I knew that Parutan was originally a big fan of 'Kise Koi', so I was really happy for her! After I heard about the role, I read the story and I loved how all the characters are trying to love the things they love, which is really NEW KAWAII. I want you to pay attention to the song because I think Parutan's voice and Karen's voice are a perfect match, so I hope everyone will listen to it a lot and love the anime a lot too!"
Sakuraba said, "I've always loved 'Kise Koi' and have read all the volumes, so when I heard that it would be the ending theme, I was really surprised and very happy. The ending theme, 'Kawaii Kaiwai', is a wonderful song that expresses Marin's dedication to love and cosplay, so I hope you will pay attention to it. I'm also really looking forward to Marin's new cosplay and the developments between her and Niina!"
"Kise Koi" began serialization in "Young Gangan" in 2018, and the final episode was published in the 7th issue of the magazine on March 21, bringing the curtain down on the approximately 7-year serialization. It is a romantic comedy depicting the love story between Gojo Niina, a high school boy training to become a head maker who makes faces for Hina dolls, and Kitagawa Marin, a gyaru cosplayer who loves anime and games. The comic has sold over 13 million copies in total.
Season 1 of the TV anime aired from January to March 2022. A live-action drama starring Riko Nagase and Kota Nomura was also broadcast from October to December 2024, which also attracted attention. Season 2 will be broadcast on TOKYO MX and other stations from July 5th.
