Violinist Chisako Takashima attended a press conference for the variety show "Platinum Family: A Look at the Magnificent Family" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 7pm) held in Tokyo recently. Concerned about the show's concept of taking a peek into the lifestyle of a "magnificent family = platinum family," Takashima suggested to fellow MC Koizumi Kotaro, an actor, "When you go back to your parents' house in the future, ask your father, 'Hey, is there a friend of yours who'd be happy to show you their house?'" in order to prolong the show's run. Koizumi burst out laughing.
Fujimori Shingo of the comedy duo "Oriental Radio," who is in charge of hosting the program, asked Takashima, "What about recordings when it becomes a regular program?" Takashima replied, "It's fine for now. But we'll eventually run out of material. We'll have to keep our antennas up for that time." She then smiled and said, "I also follow Arab kings and princes."
Furthermore, Takashima said, "I asked my son, 'Don't you have any rich friends?' You should definitely do it. You can't live a carefree life," to which Fujimori praised him, saying, "You're a model for the people on the show!" After that, Takashima asked Koizumi if he could ask his father, saying, "He might say, 'If you do it, I'll teach you,'" and Koizumi, overwhelmed by Takashima's power, nodded and said, "That kind of awareness is important. I want to try it proactively."
Regarding the program becoming a regular, Koizumi said, "I was honestly happy. This is the first time we've had a regular program on TV Asahi, so strangely enough, I feel closer to it than ever before. I guess your feelings change when you get a regular program." Takashima responded, "I love getting a peek into the lives of people from wealthy families. I'm the type that even checks up on Instagram, so it's fun. I'm half jealous (laughs)," making the assembled press laugh.
"Platinum Family: A Peek into a Magnificent Family" has aired three special programs so far. It has featured the lives of a world-famous fashion designer, the descendant of a prime minister, and a star silver screen couple. The program has been beefed up as it becomes a regular series. It will feature interviews with culturally active families such as those related to the imperial family and those with historical lineage, those involved in Kabuki and Noh actors, as well as location shoots that make use of Koizumi and Takashima's personal connections, and other new projects. Tetsuko Kuroyanagi will also appear on the program as a special advisor. The first regular broadcast will be a three-hour special airing on April 15th at 7pm.
