The 13th episode of the NHK Taiga drama " UNBOUND (Berabou) " (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring actor Ryusei Yokohama , titled "The Zatōkin that Shakes Edo", was broadcast on March 30th, and viewers were drawn to the sight of Sei ( Fuka Koshiba ) pouring out her inner thoughts in front of Toriyama Kengyo ( Hayato Ichihara ).
" UNBOUND (Berabou)" is the 64th taiga drama and depicts the life of Tsutaya Juzaburo(or "Tsutajyu" for short), who is said to have laid the foundations for Japan's media industry and pop culture.
In episode 13, Tsutae (Yokohama) receives news from Tomeshiro (Mizusawa Rintaro) that Urokogataya (Kataoka Ainosuke) has been arrested again for counterfeiting.
He learns that Urokogataya had accumulated debts from various sources, and one of the documents was sent to a banker led by Toriyama Kengyo, who committed a crime in desperation. Meanwhile, within Edo Castle, the problem of a samurai's daughter being sold to pay off debts is raised, and Okitsugu (Ken Watanabe) orders Hasegawa Heizō Nobuyoshi (Nakamura Hayato) to investigate and uncover the truth about the banker's money...
As Kengyo grows increasingly irritated with his relationship with Sei, who he sees as "a prostitute and a customer no matter what," he soon realizes that the man Sei loves who occupies her heart is Tsutaya Juzaburo, a bookstore owner in Yoshiwara.
The Kengyo then summoned Tsutaju to his mansion and told Sei that depending on his response, "I may have to kill you." When the Kengyo told Sei, "You're a whore to the core," Sei replied, "As you say," and confessed, "Juuzou was a ray of light to me. With that man around, being sold to Yoshiwara wasn't all bad. There was one very good thing that happened, and he was the man who made me think that."
She continued, "Whether you kill Juzo or me, you cannot change the past," and then, tearfully, poured out her heart, "But I know that you are the one who cares for me more than anyone else in this world. And that every single thing I do hurts you, who can sense other people's feelings all too well. Why is it that people can't deceive their own hearts? There's no point in harboring these feelings now, as they only serve to hurt you, and I wish that they would just disappear."
Even so, Sei pointed the blade of the Kengyo's sword at himself and said, "However, what does not exist in this world are square eggs and the truth of prostitutes. If you don't believe me, then go ahead and take my heart!"
On social media, viewers responded to the exchange between Sei and Kengyo in the scene and Koshiba's passionate performance. Comments such as, "She let it all out," "I forgot to breathe at Segawa's honest confession. Wow, it was amazing," "Fuka Koshiba is still the star of the show after all...," "Once again tonight, Fuka Koshiba, playing Sei, is the big winner!" and "I had no idea Fuka Koshiba's acting was so good! She made me cry again today" were posted one after another.
