An event for the new anime of the popular manga "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube", which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), was held on March 23rd at "AnimeJapan 2025", one of the world's largest anime events, held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto-ku, Tokyo). This is the first time in about 26 years that a new anime of "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube" will be produced since the OVA "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube: The Greatest Battle in History! Zetsuki Raijuu!!" was released in 1999. It has also been talked about that Ryotaro Okiayu , who played the main character Nube, also known as Meisuke Nueno , in the TV anime, movie anime, and OVA broadcast from 1996 to 1997, will continue to play the role. Okiayu spoke strongly about his feelings for Nube, saying, "Nube is like my alter ego. I'm putting my all into the role this time too!"
Also appearing at the event were Ryoko Shiraishi, who plays Hiroshi Tatsuno, Ryota Iwasaki, who plays Katsuya Kimura, Aya Endo, who plays Ritsuko Aya Endo, Ai Kakuma, who plays Yukime, and Toshiyuki Morikawa, who plays Kyosuke Tamamo. Morikawa will also be reprising his role as Tamamo in the new film, and expressed his joy at working with Okiayu, saying, "I'm happy to be able to work with him."
"Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube" is a manga written by Makura Shou and illustrated by Okano Takeshi, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 1993 to 1999. The story follows Meisuke Nueno(Nube), a young teacher assigned to Domori Elementary School, who solves a series of incidents with the power of the "demon hand" that resides in his left arm. The official sequel, "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube NEO", was serialized in "Grand Jump" (same publisher) from 2014 to 2018, and "Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube S" was serialized in "Saikyō Jump" (same publisher) from 2018 to 2021. The series has sold a total of approximately 29 million copies.
The TV anime aired from 1996 to 1997, and was also made into an OVA and a movie. In 2014, a TV drama starring Ryuhei Maruyama was broadcast. The new anime will be broadcast on TV Asahi's anime time slot "IMAnimation W" every Wednesday at 11:45 pm from July.
