A concert for the anime "Anne of Green Gables," "Anne of Green Gables Anime Concert," will be held on April 29th at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall (Shinjuku, Tokyo). A concert for the same work was also held in November 2023, and was a huge success, with the venue sold out. This will be the second time the concert is being held, and there are only a few tickets left for the matinee session. General ticket sales will start at 10:00 am on February 22nd.
The concert will feature a special re-edited version of all 50 episodes of the anime. Katsuhiro Ida will conduct and the Theatre Orchestra Tokyo will perform. Eiko Yamada, who plays Anne Shirley, will perform and completely recreate the final scene of the final episode. Ritsuko Owada, who sang the theme song and insert song, will also be performing.
Yamada, Owada, and narrator Michio Hasama will appear at the talk show and talk about behind-the-scenes stories about the production of "Anne of Green Gables."
The anime is based on Montgomery's timeless masterpiece. The story follows Anne, a sensitive young woman who uses her imagination to turn even sadness into joy, as she grows up despite repeated failures with her family and friends. The TV anime, directed by Isao Takahata, was broadcast in 1979 as the fifth installment of the "World Masterpiece Theater" series.
