The fifth episode of the seventh season of the TV drama "Mr. Housekeeper" starring TOKIO's Matsuoka Masahiro (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9pm) aired on February 11th. Viewers were quick to comment that the ending was "horrifying."
◇The following contains spoilers.
The latest in a series of thrilling human dramas in which Matsuoka plays a cross-dressing, large-built housekeeper named Kaoru Mitazono (nicknamed Mitazono-san) who "peeks" into the problems of the families he is sent to and solves them one after another. Toru Nomaguchi made a guest appearance in the fifth episode.
Mitazono is sent to the Yamaguchi family, who run a cram school. At the Yamaguchi family home, the mother, Sanae (Atsuko Sakurai), announces that she is thinking of remarrying, and her son, Yosuke (Yuya Uno) and daughter, Yui (Miyu Matsuzaki), are happy about their mother's new start.
However, Yui is shocked to see Sakai (Nomaguchi) who has arrived as her new husband. Sakai was the person Yui had been secretly dating. Just then, a large number of photos of Yui are found in Sakai's belongings. Yui has recently been plagued by a stalker, and she wonders if Sakai's target is her, not her mother, and so she tries to stop the two from getting married.
However, it turns out that Sakai was asked by Sanae to be a "sugar dad" to investigate Yui's stalking. After that, the secret that Sanae and Yosuke had been hiding from their families is revealed, but Sakai says that he wants to support the Yamaguchi family.
Yui also accepts Sakai as her "new dad" and it seems like a new life is about to begin, but there is a shocking development at the end. Later, when Mitazono visits the Yamaguchi family again, he gives Sakai a GPS. It was in the bag that Sakai gave Yui as a present.
Sakai said cheerfully, "I only put it on because I was worried about the stalker. She's my precious daughter after all," but then she whispered, "I have a confidentiality agreement, right?" And the story ended with Sakai sporting a creepy look on her face.
In response to this ending, viewers on social media were quick to comment, "I thought Nomaguchi was a good person, but the ending was scary lol," "I thought it would be a peaceful ending, but it was a horror after all! That's the best part of Mitazono," "The ending of this series was quite scary," "Nomaguchi Toru was so scary as Sakai, he really fit the role of the villain!" and "Nomaguchi's bizarre acting was amazing."
