The March issue of entertainment information magazine "Nikkei Entertainment!" (Nikkei BP), featuring Meguro Ren of the popular group "Snow Man" on the cover, went on sale on February 4th. In a long interview, he talks about how he prepares for a role, the image of an actor he envisions, and his vision for the future of the group, which is celebrating its 5th anniversary.
Meguro pointed out that the role of Haru that he will play in the movie version of "Trillion Game" (released on February 14th) is the polar opposite of the role he played in the "Monday 9pm" drama "The Beginning of the Sea" that aired last summer, saying, "It's a strange feeling because it feels like neither role is me, like completely different people are playing them."
He analyzes his own stance as an actor as being more of a "preparation type" rather than a "possession type," and also mentions what he learned from Otake Shinobu, with whom he co-starred in "The Sea's Beginning," and his impression of the acting of Ishibashi Ryo, with whom he co-starred in the movie "Trillion Game."
Snow Man celebrated their fifth anniversary on January 22nd, and their greatest hits album, released on the same day, recorded sales of 1.395 million copies in the first week. Meguro reflected, "If you only look at the present, you might think that Snow Man is on a very smooth course, but we've been a group that's had a lot of crises since the beginning. For the past five years, all nine of us have been searching for ways to turn those crises into opportunities."
Meguro himself said that when he first debuted, "people at my company originally told me I was in charge of variety shows," and he spoke frankly about his journey so far.
The March issue of "Nikkei Entertainment!" features a long interview with Meguro as well as a live report from "Snow Man Dome Tour 2024 RAYS," and is packed with the group's charm.
